Welcome to the Club
After months of planning, designing, building and refining, Van 001 is almost ready.
We’re really pleased to invite you to join Sosta as one of our first Founding Members.
You’ve already told us which membership you’d like, and with launch approaching this October, we’re now confirming the first group of people who’ll be taking Van 001 on the road.
This page brings together everything you need for the next step: a first look at Van 001, the five steps to get set up, the key things to know before joining, answers to the questions we think you’re most likely to have, and how to secure your place with a £100 holding payment.
Secure your place in Sosta’s Founding Membership with a £100 holding payment. It will be deducted in full from your membership fee when you join. You can cancel and receive a full refund within 14 days.
The Founding Membership at a glance
Before we get into Van 001 and what happens next, here are the key things to know.
Launch
Van 001 is due to launch in October, with the exact launch date to be confirmed shortly.
Founding Season
Your Founding Membership will run from late October 2026 to 31 March 2027.
Your membership
You’ve already selected your membership for the season: 6 days (£1,170), 9 days (£1,620), or 12 days (£1,980).
Payment
Membership is paid upfront ahead of the season. Your £100 holding payment will be deducted in full from the balance.
Driver
For the Founding Season, each membership has one approved driver.
Your feedback
As one of our first members, we’d love to check in with you from time to time to hear what’s working well, what could be better, and how we can keep improving the experience.
Everything else — booking rules, peak periods, cancellations and how delivery works — is explained further down this page and in the Member Terms.
Anything important will also be surfaced again in the app at the right time, so you won’t need to remember everything from this page.
Meet Van 001
Built around a VW Transporter, Van 001 has been designed to feel less like a traditional campervan and more like a small retreat that happens to move.
Inside, you’ll find cork-lined walls, stained timber, wool upholstery, stainless-steel worktops and Marmoleum flooring, alongside a generous rear seating area that adapts to how you want to use the van.
During the day, a table can be set up between the seats. At night, it lowers to fill the space between them, creating the downstairs bed platform. The central cube at the rear doubles as a seat and can be removed to create a clear walkway through the van.
The downstairs bed measures 187 × 160 cm—slightly shorter but wider than a standard king-size bed. Upstairs, the pop-top provides a second bed measuring approximately 192 × 108 cm, giving Van 001 room for up to three people across two beds.
With the pop-top raised, there’s plenty of standing room at the kitchen. The high-spec gas hob isn’t fixed in place, so you can cook inside or move it to the pull-out kitchen at the rear, where the raised tailgate provides shelter while you cook outdoors.
Van 001 also comes fully stocked for a few days away, including:
Bedding and blankets
85L fridge, gas hob, sink and hot water
Pots, pans, knives, crockery and glasses
Tea, coffee, spices and olive oil
Outdoor chairs and useful trip essentials
Toiletries and refillable bathroom products
There’s also a removable Trelino composting toilet, rather than a chemical one. It’s stored discreetly inside the removable central cube at the rear and is there if you need it—not something the rest of the van has been designed around. If you’d prefer not to take it with you, we can simply remove it before your trip.
We’re working with a small group of brilliant British brands to make the experience feel considered from the moment you open the door. That includes Assembly Coffee, Bramley, Citizens of Soil and Borough Kitchen.
The idea is simple: you shouldn’t need to pack half your flat just to go away for a weekend.
A quick note on the renders: they don’t yet show the pop-top roof or pull-out rear kitchen.
What happens next
With Van 001 approaching launch this October, we’re now starting to confirm our first group of Founding Members.
You’ve already told us which membership you’d like, so there are just a few steps between now and getting you set up.
Five simple steps to get you ready for your first trip:
Secure your place
We’re asking Founding Members to make a £100 holding payment to confirm their place.
This will be deducted in full from the cost of the membership you’ve already selected.
Set up your Sosta account
In launch month, we’ll send you an email invitation to the Sosta app to set up your account.
This is where you’ll add your personal details, driving information and anything else we need to get your membership set up properly.
It’ll also become the place where you manage your membership, see your remaining days and make bookings once we launch.
We’ll confirm your details
Once you’ve completed your profile, we’ll check that everything we need is in place, including the relevant driver and insurance eligibility requirements.
If we need anything else from you, we’ll let you know.
Complete your membership
Ahead of launch, with the exact date to be announced soon, you’ll receive an email with a link to complete the remaining balance of your membership.
Your £100 holding payment will automatically be taken off the amount due.
Book your first trip
Once bookings open, you’ll be able to see live availability and book Van 001 directly through the app.
Then it’s over to you to decide where to go first.
Before you secure your place
There are a few important documents we need you to read before joining.
They are, as you’d probably expect, fairly detailed — but they’re there for a reason. They set out the important bits around your membership, bookings, cancellations, driver eligibility and what happens while a van is in your care.
The good news is that you only need to go through them properly once. After that, they’ll always be available in the Sosta app if you ever want to refer back to them.
We’d always encourage you to read everything in full before joining, but we also know the questions you’ll probably care about most are much simpler: how booking works, how we keep it fair, how far ahead you can book, and what happens if your plans change.
We’ve answered those, along with a few other practical questions, in the FAQs below.

Your questions, answered
-
All bookings are made through the Sosta app.
You’ll be able to see live availability, choose your dates, see how many membership days the trip will use and confirm your booking in one place.
Your upcoming trips and remaining membership days will always be visible in your account.
-
Sosta is a shared membership, so making sure everyone gets a fair opportunity to use the vans is really important.
We’ll have clear rules around how far in advance you can book, how many future bookings you can hold at once and how particularly popular dates are managed.
The aim is simple: enough flexibility to plan the trips you want, without the best weekends being permanently tied up by a small number of members.
-
Your booking window depends on your membership:
6-day membership: up to 6 weeks ahead
9-day membership: up to 9 weeks ahead
12-day membership: up to 12 weeks ahead
You’ll need to book at least 2 calendar days in advance, so today and tomorrow won’t be available to select.
We also keep at least 1 day between confirmed bookings so there’s enough time for the van to be returned, checked, cleaned and prepared properly for the next member.
Peak periods work slightly differently. These dates sit outside the normal advance-booking rules and are allocated through a separate fair-allocation request process, so everyone has a reasonable chance of securing the most popular dates.
-
Peak periods are handled differently from normal bookings so the most sought-after dates can be allocated as fairly as possible.
Peak booking requests open 12 weeks in advance for all members, regardless of membership tier, and stay open for 72 hours.
It isn’t first-come, first-served, so there’s no advantage to submitting your request the moment the window opens. Once the request period closes, dates are allocated using a fairness system that takes into account things like whether you already have a future peak booking, how many peak periods you’ve previously been allocated and how long you’ve been waiting.
Members can normally hold one future peak booking at a time.
Peak periods can include bank holidays, Easter, Christmas and New Year, and other particularly high-demand dates that we publish in advance. Ordinary weekends aren’t treated as peak periods.
If a peak booking becomes available again close to departure, we may run a shorter request window or make it available through our last-minute booking process.
All peak dates and request windows will be clearly shown in the Sosta app.
-
We know plans change.
If you cancel with enough notice, your membership days can be returned to your account for you to use another time.
Different rules apply to late cancellations, because it becomes much harder for another member to use those dates.
The full cancellation windows are set out in the Member Terms and will also be shown clearly in the app when you make a booking.
-
Yes, subject to availability and the cancellation rules that apply to your trip.
If the dates you want are available, you’ll be able to amend your booking through the app or contact us if you need a hand.
-
Yes, subject to the booking limits that apply to your membership.
We may limit the number of future bookings you can hold at one time so that availability stays fair across the membership.
Peak bookings are handled separately, with members normally able to hold one future peak booking at a time.
-
How are my membership days calculated?
Your membership is based on the number of 24-hour membership days you use.
Each membership day runs from the time the van is handed over to you. So, for example, if Van 001 is delivered at 3pm on Friday and collected at 3pm on Monday, that uses three membership days.
If your return time takes you into an additional 24-hour period, that may use an additional membership day.
The app will always show exactly how many days a booking will use before you confirm it.
-
Not at launch.
For the Founding Season, each membership will have one approved driver, and only that person will be insured to drive the van.
We may introduce additional approved drivers in future, but to begin with we’re keeping things simple.
-
Yes. Sosta is dog-friendly.
We just ask that the van is looked after and returned in a suitable condition for the next member.
-
When you make a booking in the Sosta app, you’ll choose your preferred drop-off and collection locations, along with the available time slots that work for you.
For the Founding Season, we’ll deliver and collect Van 001 within our London service area. We’ll already have checked that we can serve your location before you reach this stage, so if you’re reading this, you’re good to go.
Your handover point could be your home, your place of work, or somewhere else convenient. If you don’t have suitable parking, we’d suggest choosing a nearby location where we can easily meet you and safely hand the van over.
One of our drivers will bring the van to you, ready for your trip, and collect it again at the end of your booking.
The idea is simple: we bring Sosta to you.
-
Every Sosta van is checked and prepared before it reaches you, and inspected again when it returns.
We’ll explain the handover and inspection process before your first trip, and the full guidance will always be available in the app.
-
You’ll have a direct way to contact Sosta during your trip.
Breakdown, roadside assistance and other important information will also be available through the app and inside the van.
-
Normal wear and tear is part of using a shared vehicle.
If damage happens during your trip, it will be dealt with in line with the Member Terms, insurance arrangements and any applicable excess.
We’ll make the process clear before your first trip.
-
Van 001 will be prepared with the core equipment you need for a trip, including bedding, kitchen equipment and a selection of food, drink and bathroom essentials.
You’ll receive a full inventory before your first booking so you know exactly what’s already waiting for you.
-
Mostly your clothes, personal belongings and whatever you want for the trip.
We’ll send you a simple pre-trip checklist so you know what’s included and what you might want to bring.
A note from Max
I know there will naturally be more questions as we get closer to launch, and I want this first season to feel as personal and straightforward as possible.
Everything you need will live in the Sosta app — your membership details, bookings, trip information, policies and guidance — so you’ll always know where to find it.
But more importantly, I want to stay close to our Founding Members. You’re the first people taking Sosta on the road, and your experience will genuinely help shape what we build from here.
If there’s anything you’re unsure about, anything you want to talk through, or even just something you think we could do better, please contact me directly. I’ll always come back to you personally, and I’m more than happy to jump on a call.
We’re so excited to have you as part of Sosta.
